I Flew Blind: My First Real IMC Flight Experience in Actual Weather - Student Pilot IFR #ifrflying #imcflight #realaviation
Ever wondered what it's like flying blind through thick clouds with zero visibility? This was my first actual IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) flight - and it was intense. Departed Northeast Philadelphia (KPNE) and headed to Allentown (KABE) for an ILS approach to runway 24, but went missed after a failed alignment. I was overwhelmed, flying through layers of weather I’d only simulated before.
This video shows the return flight, with RNAV 15 approach, vectored almost the entire way. The visibility was poor, ceilings were low, and stress levels were high - but it was a valuable experience and a major learning curve as a student pilot flying in IFR for the first time. I made a ton of mistakes, but I’m proud I pushed through it. This is what real-world IFR training looks like.
